New Years Revolution

December is coming to a close and the new year is right around the corner. It's crazy how time moves so quickly and yet so slowly all at once. As I look back on 2016, I begin to reflect upon the roller coaster of a ride I've been on this year. I've certainly had my ups and downs, but I can confidently say that the experiences I've had in my life thus far (good and bad) have shaped me into who I am today.

I love making lists because it helps me to stay organized and visualize my tasks and accomplishments. However, I must admit that I'm not always consistent with my New Years Resolutions even though during this time of the year the thought of making a list crosses my mind. But for 2017, I don't want to pressure myself with a list of things that basically serve as a reminder of what I'm not doing. I want to change my outlook and put all of my focus and energy into what I AM doing, and what I WILL become. I only have one resolution on my mind this year. In 2017, I will start a revolution.

Yes, you read correctly, a revolution. I know, it sounds violent and dramatic, but if you truly think about what the word 'revolution' means, then you'll see that starting a revolution involves an invitation for new beginnings, transformation and celebration. I want to start a fundamental change in the way that I nurture my mind, body and soul. I want to have a balance in my life, find what feels good for myself and then spread this newfound awareness to others.

If you're still confused as to what I'm talking about and how I plan to start this revolution, then the answer is quite simple. I'm committing myself to practice yoga for the entire month of January. I've been practicing yoga for a while now, and consider myself to be an intermediate-level yogi, but unfortunately I don't practice yoga every day. I usually practice yoga at home, via Yoga with Adriene, who is one of my favorite yoga instructors, and quite honestly is one of the best I've ever had. She is patient and encouraging, and inspires you to match the breath to the body, and the body to the practice. Overall, she pushes you to be your authentic self.

I encourage you to take this journey with me. Get in touch with your true self and be prepared to be challenged, physically fit , break barriers and so much more. You're not in this alone. If you sign up for this Yoga Revolution, then you'll receive a daily email from Adriene herself for accountability purposes and to guide you throughout the process.

It's time for a revolution. Are you in?

Leave me a comment of your resolutions for 2017. At the end of next month, I will give a reflection as to how the 31 days of yoga went for me. I'll also post an affirmation/mantra each day on my Twitter, so be sure to follow me @ladyporrima for some motivation throughout the month of January. I'm so excited to see and feel the results!
