Dose of Prose
My summer fashion forecast features lots of crop tops with a chance of high-waisted bottoms. I love a cute, flowy sundress as well, but I always find myself drawn to two-piece sets. Speaking of sets, I wrote a blog post on some of my favorite printed pieces for the season – check it out here.
I recently posed a question to my followers on my Instagram, asking if my fashion related content was still relevant to them during this time due to COVID-19. I was pleasantly surprised when I received a resounding ‘yes’ from everyone, which is what prompted today’s post. Although I’ve been rocking my sweatpants and other loungewear for the last few months, I thoroughly miss the act of getting dressed and putting outfits together, so creating this post was exciting and a lot of fun for me. I’m going to share with you a few ways that I style cropped tops. Whether you’re going to a *socially distanced* brunch with friends, running some errands, or just looking for some style inspiration overall, this post is for you!
Disclaimer: most of the clothes I am wearing in this post are old, meaning that they are mostly sold out or out of season from the brands I purchased them from. As a result, I unfortunately cannot link the exact item I am wearing in each of these looks. However, if you want to shop my looks, check out Aritzia, Zara, TopShop and Urban Outfitters, which is where most of these items are from.
Style Focus [DENIM]
For a quick, simple and minimal look, I love to style a cropped top with a pair of denim jeans. For the first look, I went with a high-waisted straight leg jean and a pair of chunky sneakers. In the second look, I opted for grey skinny jeans with espadrille sandals. When I style my crop tops this way, I always go for minimal jewelry and accessories, such as a wristlet handbag and a hat.
Style Focus [SLACKS]
For more of a chic daytime look, I love to style crop tops with dress pants, leggings and/or slacks. I pair these together because it looks like I put more effort into my look than I actually did. If you want a low maintenance, yet put together look, you’ll love this one.
Style Focus [SKIRTS/SHORTS]
Last, but certainly not least, I style crop tops with a skirt or shorts. For those really hot and humid Summer days/nights or those times where you’re feeling extra fancy, I highly suggest trying out this look.
I hope this blog post encouraged you level up your crop top game. Which style was your favorite? Leave a comment and let me know! Also, if you end up rocking any of these looks, be sure to snap a photo and tag me on Instagram. I’d love to see it.
