Dose of Prose

Hey Style Prose readers!

As some of you may or may not know, I’m a huge health nut. I love to work out, eat clean and am constantly preaching a healthy body and healthy mind. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals – I truly cannot function without having something to eat in the morning. Specifically, one of my favorite breakfast foods is oatmeal. So, I decided to put together a short video of my go-to, original oatmeal recipe. It’s simple, healthy, filling, delicious and nutritious! If you try it out, let me know what you think.

INGREDIENTS: 

  • old fashioned oats
  • milk (I used rice milk)
  • sugar/sweetener (I used agave syrup)
  • cinnamon
  • vanilla extract
  • optional toppings of your choice (berries/nuts/chia seeds)
  • optional side items of your choice (toast, fruit or breakfast meat)

STEPS:

  1. Bring milk to a boil
  2. Add oats – cook on medium heat and stir occasionally
  3. Add cinnamon
  4. Add sugar/sweetener
  5. Add vanilla extract
  6. Stir and cook oats until desired thickness is reached
  7. Finish with desired toppings
  8. Serve with desired side items
