Dose of Prose
Two-pieces and matching sets will always be a must-have in my closet. Whenever I can’t figure out what to wear or am having any other related fashion crisis, I know I can count on my matching sets to save the day. Here’s the top 3 reasons why I love matching sets:
- Easy to style – just throw it on and you’re out the door with a complete outfit in a matter of minutes.
- Extremely versatile – workout sets, loungewear sets, suit sets…the limit does not exist. You can wear a two-piece set at any time of the year for any occasion.
- Super comfy – I think this point speaks for itself, I mean, when you look good, you feel good…and trust me, when you wear a matching set, you won’t want to take it off.
Today’s blog post is a roundup of all of my favorite printed, matching, two-piece sets. If you’ve looked at my Instagram or other fashion blog posts, you’ll notice that my style is very minimal, classic and professional with a little bit of flare. I like to bring that flare out by playing around with a pop of color, accessories or prints, which happens to be the underlying theme and style focus of today’s lookbook. Without further ado, here’s some of my favorite, affordable two-piece matching printed sets!
Style Focus: GINGHAM PRINT
BCBG is hands down one of my favorite brands. I usually get my suits and other professional/work clothes from BCBGMAXAZRIA and my daytime/casual outfits from BCBGeneration. Overall, I love the quality and style of BCBG’s clothes! One day I was out shopping with my mom and she came across this Gingham print matching set – once I tried it on I had to make a purchase. For my visual folks, here’s a little teaser video and photo montage of the set I put together for your viewing pleasure.
The cropped top gave me pinup-girl vibes which I love. The pleated shoulder accentuated with three-quarter-sleeves and ruffled trim is so playful, flirty and girly. Don’t even get me started on the pencil skirt. A pencil skirt is a classic staple piece to have in your closet in general, but this particular gingham pencil skirt has been upgraded to the next level. The skirt is super flattering and hugs you in all the right places. I’m obsessed with the asymmetrical trim, decorative buttons and flounced split hem. Together, this matching set is so appealing, especially paired with some strappy sandals, kitten heels or espadrille wedges.
Want to know the best part? This set is on SALE! The original price of the top ($78) and bottom ($88) together was $166 but if you shop each piece now, you can lock in the top ($24.99) and bottom ($28.99) at the price of $53.98! What a steal! I mean, who doesn’t love good deals right? No pressure, but I highly recommend shopping this set before it’s too late.

Style Focus: ANIMAL PRINT
You can’t go wrong with animal print. This sexy snakeskin set truly turns heads. I personally like to style this with neutral accessories, shoes and outerwear since the print already makes such a loud statement, but it’s important to remember that prints are meant to be played with, so do what feels and looks good to you!

Style Focus: FLORAL PRINT
Florals for spring? Groundbreaking.
No seriously, this jacquard print set is so innovative. Enough said.

Style Focus: PLAID PRINT
Some sets in life are black and white, while others are shades of gray. The unique thing about a plaid printed set is the variety in color palette. It’s fun to play around with this type of set by bringing out certain colors in the plaid. I love to dress up, but I equally love to dress down. If you’re a sneaker head or like a more relaxed fit set, I suggest trying out a two-piece made of sweater material, like the one I’m wearing in this post.
